When I died with Christ I was buried with him in baptism and raised up to a new life putting to death the old self and putting on the new.
Could it be, that when I struggle, I am resurrecting my old self again? Maybe its just a sliver of my old self, but this I know, when I do that, I testify against myself by my action testifying that the resurrection is true and so condemn myself.
In other words is it possible that in my sin that I am resurrecting my old self that was put to death in Christ? Is so, then am I not testifying that resurrection is true? Christ’s resurrection brings freedom from sin, but resurrecting my old self confirms Christ’s resurrection is true thereby condemning me.
Who shall save me the decrepit man that I am? Thanks be to God and our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ!
I must deny myself and pick up my cross daily. Picking it up yesterday isn’t enough for today. We must always stay clothed in Christ. If we confess our sin God is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Why do I sometimes forget? Because I am reclaiming ownership!
Lord help me know know all that I have resurrected so that I may surrender all and do so daily.
Lord may your will be done not mine.
